Every year we see new and returned wedding trends surfacing. Whether it be themed weddings, new traditions, or catering options, you should be well-researched before the big day comes. If your wedding date is set for next year, take a look at our list of 2023 wedding trends.
1. Candid Photos
We’re used to seeing professionally posed pictures perfectly edited in wedding albums. Now couples are choosing to embrace more candid photos, especially with their wedding party. Many brides focus on looking poised and beautiful at all times, but modern brides are starting to care less. We love seeing the raw emotions unfold in the special moments like walking down the aisle, giving vows, and first dance. Take a look at some of Pelazzio photography’s work!
2. Mismatched bridesmaids dresses
In recent years, we’ve seen more variation in bridesmaid dresses. They usually are in the same color, but different cuts or styles. Now, bridal parties are showing off their uniqueness by introducing different patterns or shades of the chosen color scheme. This is a fun way to show off your bridesmaids’ personalities and make sure they feel comfortable and confident in what they’re wearing!
3. Bold Color Schemes
The trend for a few years now has been neutral tones and minimalist style. We often see black & white, champagne, or ivory color schemes with a little color added. Couples are starting to get out of their comfort zones and introducing bright colors in their florals, lighting, and their wedding party’s wardrobes. Play around with some color schemes and see what feels right for you!
4. Alternate Guest Books
A big trend we’re noticing is couples are straying away from using traditional guest books. Instead of having your guests simply sign their name, put a fun and memorable spin on it. One idea is to use disposable cameras to get developed later to see photos your guests took of themselves. You can even use polaroid cameras too! If you really want to do something fun, we’ve seen couples use Jenga blocks as a guest book! Your guests will sign their names on a block and add it to the Jenga tower.
5. Wedding wardrobes
I’m sure you’ve seen brides change mid-wedding into something a little more comfortable. Now, they’re taking it to the next level. Brides are incorporating cohesive and all-white outfits for each of their wedding events. At the engagement party, bachelorette party, ceremony & reception, and even on the honeymoon, brides are planning out their outfits very specifically. We’re seeing pantsuits, two pieces, and embroidered cocktail dresses. Grooms are being included in this too! Many grooms are engaging in an outfit change along during the wedding as well.

6. First Looks
The tradition has always been that the couple doesn’t see each other until the bride goes down the aisle. While this can provide a very sweet and emotional moment for everyone to experience, many couples are opting for this to be a private one instead. They are doing first looks before the ceremony even starts! That way the experience is just between them, and the photographer captures their special moment of course.
7. Ceremony Backdrops
Many couples are looking for ways to step up their decor to make their wedding stand out from others. One way they’re accomplishing this is by having a backdrop for their ceremony. They’re incorporating florals, greenery, and statement arches. Take a look at some of the arches we offer!
